About

Servant leadership has been my path as a coach and scrum master over the past 5 years. My passion for leadership ignited during my three-year tenure in Data & Analytics at Spark New Zealand. Concurrently serving as a Scrum Master alongside fulfilling my duties as a data analyst, I discovered a profound interest and aptitude for leadership. Motivated by this realisation, I embarked on a journey to enhance my skills and knowledge, obtaining Agile certification through dedicated learning and continuous self-development. This was taken to my appointment in Data & Optimisation at Suncorp NZ as Scrum Master/Team Coach, where I guided a team of over 30 technical specialists towards self-organisation.

Alongside coordinating successful continuous delivery, I have also contributed at the value stream level, diagnosing issues with teams in order to maximise efficiency and value. To achieve this, I employed several soft-skills in my toolkit as a servant leader and I enjoy seeing my squads succeed through the facilitation and enablement I strive to provide. This, however, doesn’t inhibit me from employing more assertive and conflict-ready approaches as situations may necessitate, such as when focussing staff, raising situational awareness, controlling project scope, and managing change to help meet key team and business strategies. I’m also a mentor and coach to several members of my teams.

My long-term professional goal is to become a business leader operating at the strategic level. At work, I’m known for circumventing blocks, promoting transparently, buoying morale, and providing help wherever I can. I’m always looking for better ways to deliver value, and I enjoy the process of identifying and implementing solutions. I try to instil a continuous-improvement mindset in my teams and coach them to actively reflect and learn from their experiences. I’m also constantly looking for opportunities to upskill and contribute. I’m a hard-working team player – driven by excellence and efficacy.
